For nearly 20 years, Zahra L. has been a Social Worker at The Brenda Strafford Foundation, supporting residents and families in long-term care with compassion, dedication, and teamwork.
Family is at the heart of Zahra’s life. Married to her husband Amin for 25 years, she is a proud mother of two — her son Kamran, who is pursuing a double degree in Computer Science and Finance at the University of Calgary, and her daughter Kamilah, who works at BSF while studying Business with hopes of entering Law.
"My husband and I are incredibly proud of the values we’ve been able to instill in our children: hard work, kindness and perseverance."
In 2024, Zahra’s family experienced a special moment when Kamran was selected as the 2024 recipient of the BSF Kids’ Education Fund. The funding eased the pressure of rising education costs, covering textbooks and supplies, and allowing him to focus fully on his studies, "...and to dream big," Zahra proudly adds.
Reflecting on the award, Zahra shared how much it meant: “As a parent personally, it has reinforced my belief in the positive impact of community support. It has helped my children in knowing the value of kindness and gratitude. The funding received made me proud to be a part of the BSF – an organization that truly values its staff and their families."
